NOTES + ANNOTATIONS

Over the past few months, I’ve been holding space for a new project that feels deeply aligned with the heart of BLK + BRWN. but also opens up fresh possibilities. It’s called Fieldnotes. (by BLK + BRWN.) — a cultural strategy studio that centers Black literature, storytelling, and community care.

Right now, Fieldnotes. is in a soft launch phase. I’m planting seeds, gathering ideas, and beginning to take on a few anchor clients. The bookstore remains open Fridays and Saturdays, and by appointment throughout the week.

I have been reflecting on how stories carry us — not just the ones we read, but the ones we live. I thought about the ways Black literature is a form of memory, resistance, and healing. It’s a well I keep coming back to.

This reflection reminded me that growth is often quiet and messy. We don’t always get grand reveals or easy milestones. Sometimes it’s the small steps, the pauses, and the tender moments that lay the foundation for what’s next.
