This week I finished The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. I have been in a creative slump as of late. A good amount of anxiety that seems to always quietly whisper, I’m not doing enough in the community, quietly crept in and made itself at home. The words lacing the pages of the short and classic novel, were exactly what I needed. If you are looking for the type of reset that comes like a gentle wave, I recommend you check out The Alchemist.

This month we will be doing a screening of Stan Lathan’s film adaptation of James Baldwin’s classic novel, Go Tell it on the Mountain. Telling the journey of a family from the rural South to "big city" Harlem seeking both salvation and understanding and of a young boy struggling to earn the approval of a self-righteous and often unloving stepfather.
As we celebrate Baldwin’s 100th birthday this month, we decided what better way than with a party for Baldwin? Join us as we reflect on his timeless wisdom, his ever so timely social commentary in kickback form. Tickets range from $5-$10. Lite bites, drinks, and community.
