Hey Good Humans!

Welcome back to another week of bookish and Black and Brown happenings. I would like to just send love and support and share about a fellow Black-owned bookstore, Liberation Station (NC). Raleigh’s first Black-owned children’s bookstore. They are being forced to vacate their current physical location due to threats of violence.

Earlier this month, Scott-Miller posted on the bookstore’s IG that the bookstore will leave its space on April 30 after receiving "numerous threats." Scott-Miller is a mother of two boys and said one concerning phone call mentioned her eldest son.

BLK + BRWN. will be participating in the Small Business Showcase with the KC Chamber on Thursday, April 11th so we will be closed. The showcase is open to the public and all applicants for the 2024 Small Business of the Year Award receive a table to showcase their products/services and their company culture. Grab a ticket and come support!

UPDATE: our Bookstore Rent Fundraiser has crossed the $7,800 mark. We are a little under 40% of hitting our goal of $20,000 to cover the bookstore rent for the year. I really appreciate you all for the random acts of kindness every single time. Thank you for being a part of our story!
