Pusher's Delight
YOUR WEEKLY BOOKISH SOURCE ON ALL THINGS BLK + BRWN.

Happy Wednesday Friends. Happy Women’s History Month.
we kicked this month off with our event, for colored girls, where we celebrated the literary work and legacy of Ntozake Shangé and for colored girls who have considered suicide when the rainbow is enuf. so many beautiful moments came together as we honored the joy and released the sorries we never owed or never healed us.
this month, i hope to try some new ideas and concepts as spring approaches. with all the interest in my personal record collection, we will be testing out evening hours a few days a week starting the last week of march; a hifi listening room night; and a snack bar in the bookstore. truthfully, the work we do matters, you’ve told us this time and time again through all the support — but, it’s time to get serious about our staying power. this is the perfect time to get re-acclimated with the ecosystem if you haven’t been by lately, or if you’ve been wanting to stop in and haven’t quite found the right time yet… pull up.
trust me, it’ll be worth it.
what’s on our calendar? 👀

what i’m reading currently…
my partner + i have been reading this classic together. a reread for me and first time for them, but it’s been super interesting to hear each other’s perspective on what intimacy and community means to us and how it looks for us. Somé reveals the role of spirit in every marriage, friendship, relationship, and community. She shares ancient ways to make our intimate lives more fulfilling and secure and offers powerful insights into the "illusion of romance," divorce, and loss. i would definitely recommend it to anyone who wanting to expand or even just hear a different perspective on relationships and how they operate in ecosystems. | i was sent an advanced copy of, all the men i’ve loved again, and have been enjoying this solo debut romance. Twenty years later, and Cora is staring her 40s in the eye, and has cloaked herself in loneliness like a warm blanket. It’s the safest choice. But then an unexpected reconnection and a chance encounter puts her right back where she started. The same two men, the same agonizing decision.Finding herself in this position—again—will test everything Cora thought she knew about fate, love, and most importantly, herself. All The Men I’ve Loved Again is a big-hearted coming-of-age story for anyone who’s thought what if about a past love and what it would be like to have a second chance. i am enjoying the flashbacks to that 90s and early 2000s black experience. our author also poignantly brings a very interesting father/daughter dynamic that i find refreshing, and a set of best friends that keep our author grounded in the way my little capricorn heart deeply values. |
