Pusher's Delight
YOUR WEEKLY BOOKISH SOURCE ON ALL THINGS BLK + BRWN.

Happy Wednesday Friends. Happy Women’s History Month.
this month, i hope to try some new ideas and concepts as spring approaches. with all the interest in my personal record collection, we will be testing out evening hours a few days a week starting the last week of march; a hifi listening room night; and a snack bar in the bookstore. truthfully, the work we do matters, you’ve told us this time and time again through all the support — but, it’s time to get serious about our staying power. this is the perfect time to get re-acclimated with the ecosystem if you haven’t been by lately, or if you’ve been wanting to stop in and haven’t quite found the right time yet… pull up.
trust me, it’ll be worth it.

what i’m reading currently…
my partner + i have been reading this classic together. a reread for me and first time for them, but it’s been super interesting to hear each other’s perspective on what intimacy and community means to us and how it looks for us. Somé reveals the role of spirit in every marriage, friendship, relationship, and community. She shares ancient ways to make our intimate lives more fulfilling and secure and offers powerful insights into the "illusion of romance," divorce, and loss. i would definitely recommend it to anyone who wanting to expand or even just hear a different perspective on relationships and how they operate in ecosystems. | i had a chance to visit semicolon during a quick trip to chicago, and it’s a book that’s been on my personal wishlist ever since the couple announced they were releasing a book. if you aren’t familiar, jannah + kiyanna are the brilliant minds behind blk mkt vintage, the brooklyn-based antique shop, reclaiming objects and curiosities that tell black stories. it is currently my favorite coffee table book, with over 300+ photos of vintage artifacts, interviews with Black archivists and collectors, and tips for starting your own collection. it really is a must-have for history lovers and for the culture. |
